This Projects goal was to develop a manual, which was to be used as help for a fishing company in the making of an SMS (Safety Management System). The manual was going to follow the guidelines presented by the IMO (International Maritime Organisation) and the Swedish Transport Agency. The projects client was a smaller fishing company that was about to build a fishing vessel.The work has been carried out as a project, it was finished within the schedule and the client was most satisfied with the result. The client has used the manual in the making of the Safety Booklet (SMS) and they are now certified according to the rules of the Swedish Transport Agency..
En framtid som sjöbefäl : Sjöbefälsstudenters syn på arbetet
The purpose of this study is to highlight the maritime students' views on and visions for their future career. The results will be used by maritime academies, ship owners and unions to develop their activities in the desired direction and work together for a well-functioning labour market in shipping in the future. To determine the students? views and visions, interviews were conducted with graduating students at the maritime academies in Sweden. The results show that the reduced Swedish merchant fleet worries students, but that the majority is positive about finding a job after graduation.

Arbetstillfredsställelse och Shipboard Management - En studie av hur Shipboard Management-systemet påverkar arbetstillfredsställelsen hos seniorbefälen i Laurin Maritime AB
Arbetstillfredsställelse är ett av de mest studerade och omskrivna ämnena inom organisationspsykologi. En anledning till att det är så pass studerat är att anställda värderar sin trivsel på arbetsplatsen högt och ser arbetstillfredsställelse som ett mål i sig. Då arbetstillfredsställelse är av sådan vikt för anställda så är det intressant att veta vad ett företag gör för att de anställda ska känna sig tillfreds och nöjda på sin arbetsplats.Rederiet Laurin Maritime sköter driften av sina fartyg med hjälp av ett system som kallas Shipboard Management. Detta management-system är intressant att belysa ur ett organisationsteoretiskt perspektiv eftersom systemet i sig kan påverka seniorbefälens arbetstillfredsställelse. Syftet med studien är att undersöka arbetstillfredställelsen i Laurin Maritimes Shipboard Management-system med hjälp av Hackman och Oldhams arbetskaraktäristikamodell.Kandidatarbetet är i stort sett uppdelat i två delar.

This is a study that was conducted during a three day exercise of the Swedish Armed Forces called ?Amfibieförbandet?, which is shortened as AMF, in Gothenburg. During the exercise three scientists followed the crew on the boats and this is one of the studies that became the result of the observation made during the exercise. The boats that was used during the three days were the boat called ?Stridsbåt 90H? by the Swedish armed forces.

Ship formed monuments from the Late Bronze Age on the island of O?land, southeast Sweden, have never been thoroughly dealt with in previous research, despite the fact that the region is suggested to have had a key-role in maritime trade networks. This thesis aims to address the ship formed monuments on O?land in relationship to the monuments in northern Sma?land and the island of Gotland. My goal is to discuss how the ship symbolism was practised during the Late Bronze Age in Scandinavia from a new perspective.

The purpose of this legal dogmatic Bachelor Thesis is to define the legal definition of ?a rescue service? and illustrate the division of responsibilities between national authorities and the municipalities with regards to the execution of emergency response operations.?A rescue service? means the emergency response actions that national and municipal authorities are legally obliged to provide to prevent or minimise injury to people and damage to property or the environment when emergencies occur or seem imminent. In the following cases a national authority is responsible for providing the requisite rescue service:1. Search and rescue (air) ? the Swedish Civil Aviation Authority is the responsible authority;2.
Parallel Registration of Ships
In present there is no Swedish legislation regulating bareboat registration of Swedish ships. Despite this absence however shipowners with vessels already registered in the Swedish Vessel Register do not hesitate to take advantage of the positive aspects of bareboat registration and thereby allowing the registration of their ships in another State as well. The fact that there is a lack of legislation in this area has left a legal loophole resulting in Swedish ships being registered in a second State without any regulation providing options or protection for the different parties involved. With this as a background, the main objective of this thesis is to analyze parallel registration of ships, its consequences and the future of dual registration in Sweden. To fulfil this objective another aim is to impart a collected legal and economical presentation of the problems that may occur when a bareboat chartered vessel is registered in two different States simultaneously.
Risks Related to the Maritime Transportation of Oil and Gas (mainly Crude oil, LPG, and LNG) -A Conceptual Study and Empirical Outlook on the Baltic Sea and UK Territorial Waters to Mitigate Risks
Transportation of oil and gas by the Sea characterizes challenges from a safety viewpoint. In this type of transportation, different sizes of special tankers carrying oil and gas. The marine transportation of these scarce natural riches is involved with risks and hazards, which may lead to many losses; for instance, wasting oil and gas, injuries of people, damaging ships and properties, and damaging environment. The main purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the risks, hazards, and accidents during transportation of oil and gas (mainly Crude Oil, liquefied petroleum gas, and Liquefied natural gas) by the Sea with concentrating on transport safety. Hence, a better understanding of these risks and hazards can contribute to decrease of addressed losses.This study is carried out on risks associated with maritime transportation of oil and gas starting with describing the general casual chain (dealing with causes, incidents, accidents and consequences/causalities), continuing with describing risk analysis techniques (including event tree analysis and fault tree analysis) and risk control measures/options, and finally implementing aforesaid investigations on real data from two areas; namely UK territorial waters and the Baltic Sea.In this study, the results of analyzing data from 1991 to 2010 in UK territorial waters revealed that collision and grounding were two most common accidents in terms of crude oil tankers, LPG and LNG carriers in which 44% of all accidents were equally divided between collision and grounding.
Berättelse och mekaniker i konflikt : Ludonarrativ dissonans effekt på narrativ transport
För att kunna skapa intressanta och engagerande berättelser i spel behövs förståelse för hur spels unika egenskaper påverkar berättande. Ett spelnarrativa kan delas upp i det inbäddade narrativet, som består av till exempel texter och dialog, samt det emergenta narrativet, som uppstår ur spelets gameplay. När dessa två delar inte stämmer överens uppstår ludonarrativ dissonans. I detta arbete undersöks hur ludonarrativ dissonans påverkar narrativ transport, det vill säga inlevelse i en berättelse. Två versioner av ett berättelsedrivet spel skapades med olika mekanikerna för att uppnå låg respektive hög ludonarrativ dissonans.
Impact of EU-regulation on pigs? welfare during transport
Each year 225 million pigs are transported within the European Union (EU) for slaughter, fattening and breeding. This results in poor animal welfare due to the fact that animals are exposed to several numbers of stress factors in the vehicle during loading, transit and unloading. Animal welfare can be defined as how well the animal attempts to cope with its environment and during transport there is often severe difficulty for the pigs to cope properly. There is a growing societal concern for animal welfare. This resulted in that the European Union enacted a law called the EU-regulation with certain directives of how to improve the welfare of the animals during transport.

The transport sector is one of the biggest pollutants in the European Union. In relation to
transport policies and environmental policies, intermodal transportation solutions are of high
relevance to establish a sustainable transport sector for the future. Intermodality which is
defined as smooth transition between transport modes is a key figure for how modal shares
are divided between the modes of transportation. The aim of this bachelor?s thesis is to
examine the research gap whether policies intended for a specific transport mode affects each
other in relation to EU policies intended for intermodality.
Kommunicera säkert : En studie om kommunikation mellan lotsar, befälhavare och bogserbåtsbefälhavare
Syftet med studien var att undersöka vad lotsar, befälhavare och bogserbåtsbefälhavare ansåg om den verbala kommunikationen med hänsyn till säkerhet och effektivitet. Detta eftersom majoriteten av alla fartygsolyckor inträffar på grund av den mänskliga faktorn, där kommunikationen är en stor del. I studien genomfördes semistrukturerade intervjuer med två lotsar, två befälhavare och två bogserbåtsbefälhavare. Genom de sex intervjuerna i studien gick det bland annat att utläsa att användandet av standardfraser och closed loop communication varierar. Om användandet inom dessa två områden blev bättre skulle säkerheten kunna ökas.
Politiskt organisationsbyggande - Vilken betydelse har samrådsprocessen haft i arbetet med att bygga upp en ny organisation för kollektivtrafiken i Värmland? : En fallstudie av arbetet med trafikförsörjningsprogrammet i Värmland
On the first of January 2012, a new public authority was formed in Värmland, due to a new legislation on public transport. The first task for the new public authority was to produce a plan for the development of public transport. In order to do so, it had to execute an extensive consultation process about the long-term goals of public transport. The purpose of the thesis is to investigate how a public authority can use a consultation process as a means to clarify accountability and produce unified goals. To answer that, I have done a case study about how the new regional public authority in Värmland for public transport has acted in the process of writing a plan for the development of public transport.
